Fun & Busy Memorial Day Weekend

This long holiday weekend was lots of fun! We stayed in town but were busy, busy and hit up the Edmond Blues Fest, Paseo Arts Festival and of course got some pool time, among a slew of other things including Kate's first taste of spaghetti (I took a before and after pic included here) and her first trip to Sam's - ha! ha! With the spaghetti, she was pretty funny - not sure she knew she was supposed to eat it! We stripped her down completely, knowing this was going to be a messy deal all the way around. Kate literally grabbed a handful from the plate and put it on the table and just looked at it like..."what am I supposed to do with this???" Finally, she put a messy handful in her mouth but she didn't seem to love it. I guess it's just a new food but if she's anything like her mom, she'll love pasta!

It was great family time this weekend but we are totally worn out. These days, Kate is on the go and wants to attempt to walk everywhere holding our hands since she's not able to walk just yet on her own. So, we spend our days crunched over walking from here to there and everywhere - and have learned to live with a permanent crick in our backs! She's pretty cute though and she will giggle hysterically when I pretend like I'm going to get her - literally, I say "I'm gonna get you" and hold my hands up and she will take off and scream and let out the cutest, boisterous laugh I've ever heard! I'll have to try to post a video here of her doing this - she loves being chased! Here are some of my favorite pics from this weekend! Can't believe it's June and certainly can't believe Kate will be 1 in just a couple of weeks. My oh my!

Kate's Baptism

We FINALLY had Kate's baptism today at Church of the Servant and it was very, very special! We were fortunate to have our immediate family all together for it. Kate did so good - although we weren't concerned because she's such a water baby! She was pretty precious! Here are a few pics from the baptism.

A Fun Mother's Day!

Today was my first official mother's day - seemed kinda weird and I'll be honest, there were times I had to remind myself I was a mother! It's just crazy that I'm now amongst the moms of the world! Love it! Dad did not disappoint - he and Kate put together the sweetest card and bought mommy a spa package - the card said to relieve all the stress "daddy" causes! We also hosted a lunch for some of our family - Kyle's mom and Sharon Vaughan (mother of my brother-in-law, Brian). We grilled steaks and had such a great meal and watched Kate crawl around and climb on things! We definitely missed having my mom in town! She'll be here soon, though, in a couple of short weeks!

Kate FINALLY started crawling this past week and so she made her big debut for everyone showing off her new found skills today! For what seems like forever, Kate has carefully leaned to reach anything she might want and has done a pretty creative scoot to get anything too far in the distance to reach. I think she's pulled out all the stops to avoid having to actually crawl. We were excited when she finally began to crawl instead of straining, stretching and scooting to get what she wants - ha!! But, the crazy truth is I think she'll be walking any day now. She can already pull herself up on things and takes huge steps with help. I'm afraid the long-anticipated wait for mobility is now in full force!

Here's a few photos from today. There's one pic of me crying - most of you know me well enough to know that I ball pretty easily, so when I opened an adorable framed photo of Kate with a super sweet note about being a mom, I totally cried! Gees - so emotional ; )

Today was such a great day!
