Big Halloween Weekend

It's been a big weekend already and we've still got a whole day to go! Mimi (my mom) came in town for Halloween festivities and we spent this evening over at Grandma and Grandpa Murphy's hanging out with family and admiring Kate in her darling duck outfit! We also celebrated Aunt Alli's birthday! Here are a few of my favorite pics from this weekend. There's several of Kate and Mimi hanging out and then lots of Kate in her pre-Halloween pumpkin outfit and in her official duck costume.

4 Months Old

Kate turned 4 months old on Oct. 16 and we did our standard photo shoot with our monkey friend! She also visited the doctor again for her four month check-up and shots (no fun)! The best part about the doctor's visit is we get to find out how big she is getting and I was shocked to learn that Kate is still in the 90th percentile in weight and get this....the 97th percentile in height! Seriously?!? Where does she get this? Well, I went back and scoured our baby books to find out that Kyle was very tall and a little butterball himself at this age! Kate weighs in at a whopping 15 pounds 4 ounces and is 26 inches long. She's so very healthy and is now sleeping through the night consistently! We feel pretty lucky! We'll put Kate down each night after a bath around 8:30 pm and she'll sleep until 8 the next morning. Maybe this is temporary and as she gets older we'll be waking up with her a lot earlier but for now, it's just heaven!

From these pics, you can tell she's discovered her hands and grabbing and she knows that this monkey friend is meant for more than posing with her. She was pretty hard to keep still! Here are a few of my faves!

Grandma Murphy's B'day

October is a big month for family birthdays and we kicked it off last weekend with Grandma Murphy's! And, Kate turned 4 months old on Oct. 16! We had a mexican fiesta for Grandma - well, at least a lot of mexican food - at our hacienda and Kate got most all the attention. : ) Here's a few of my favorite pictures of Kate with Grandma and some of the rest of the fam. One of her new favorite spots is in front of the mirror! Not sure she's figured out it's herself she's seeing but she sure likes to look around at things and say hi to herself ; ) It's fun! Stay tuned for more celebratory pics from this month - more birthdays to come.

It's The Zoo!

Last weekend, we also hit up the zoo for some fun with our own personal tour guides, Aunt Alli and Uncle Brian. They know the zoo better than anyone - have official zoo passes and all! The weather was great and we had the best time showing Kate all the animals. The baby carrier worked out nicely and she was able to check out lots of stuff! Her favorite part of the zoo by far was the aquarium. It was really dark and the aquarium tanks were lit up and of course had lots of colorful fish. She was entranced by it all! I know there's many more zoo trips to come and I'm sure Aunt Alli and Uncle Brian are going to be excited to take her every time!!!

The Pumpkin Patch!

It's officially Fall (although it doesn't feel like it with temps in the 90's), but with such nice weather, we had a great time outdoors at the pumpkin patch. Kyle did some research and found a great little pumpkin patch in Arcadia, OK. It was a neat place and definitely more to do for kids who can do all sorts of cool things like run, jump, climb, play! But, Kate had fun watching and taking it all in! I thought she'd get a kick out of the animals too, so we bought some feed to give to the animals...honestly, this is the first time I've ever done such a thing but wanted to do it to see if I could get a reaction out of Kate. Not sure she cared -- ha! I, on the other, was totally freaked - does my face show it?!?

Dad and Kate had lots of quality time since she was hanging out on him in her baby carrier. We also bought a cartload of pumpkins before leaving - gees - we got sucked in! But, I think these may be the best pumpkins we've ever had. Even pre-baby, Kyle and I make it a tradition to carve our own pumpkins...can't wait to get Kate involved this year!
